Creative Production - Documentary

We were asked to make a documentary on our chosen subject within our production group.  Alongside our 10 minute edited final piece we were asked to provide a portfolio which includes all our research as well as our call sheets, location recces etc.
After the completed documentary I was proud of what we had achieved as a group in spite of this, I was not really pleased with the final edit. I believe that Louis injury should have been re filmed in a reconstruction. It could have been easily possible to get a BMX friend of his or a colleague to mimic the injury. Then in the editing suite we would just have to blur the video and make it black and white (or even a sepia tone) with ‘Reconstruction’ titled on a bottom corner.  I think that it would add to the documentary feel and essence just as the reconstructions work extremely well in The Thin Blue Line.
The benefits of us having a larger group was that there was always someone around for emergency filming (e.g. me and Samin – Louis hospital journey), although it took away from certain roles. With a group of 6 people everyone has less responsibility which takes away from the whole project.
